DAVENPORT -- Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rev. Danny L. Ricketts, a resident of Davenport, will be noon Friday, December 14, 2007, at Mighty Fortress Community Church, 1806 33rd Street, Rock Island. Burial will take place in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Rev. Ricketts went to be with the One he served on Monday, December 10, 2007, at his residence. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Danny Layne Ricketts was born May 16, 1951, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Walter L. and Doris L. (Schroeder) Ricketts. He received his Associates Degree from Scott Community College in Computer Science. He was an Army veteran having served in Germany. Rev. Ricketts was united in marriage to RitaMae Geske on November 1, 1969, at St. Mathias Church in Muscatine. He was employed as a computer programmer for Tri-City Fabricating and Welding. Rev. Ricketts had been an ordained minister since 1979. He was the Outreach Pastor for Mighty Fortress Community Church of Rock Island. He was a member of Evangelistic Messengers' Associates, Inc. Rev. Ricketts was very devoted to the Christian Care Center of Rock Island, where he held Chapel Services and Bible Study sessions. He played bass guitar and was a vocalist with the Gospel Climbers for 18 years. Memorials may be made to the family. Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, RitaMae Ricketts, of Davenport; his children, Jennifer (Steve) Simmering, Ophiem, Illinois, Sgt. Jason (Christina) Ricketts, Waterloo, Indiana, Heather (Earl) Hillyer, LeClaire, Iowa, Amanda Ricketts, Davenport, and Zachary (Rachel) Ricketts, Winterset, Iowa; he was PAPA to his 12 ½ grandchildren; his mother, Doris L. Ricketts, of Davenport; and his siblings, Maxine, Lonny, Richard, Linda, Kathy, Nadine, and Jeanne. Rev. Ricketts was preceded in death by his father, Walter, and an infant brother, Milford.
