For classmates who attended Muscatine Community College, whether you graduated or not, you are considered an alumnus.  The 80th anniversary of MCC will be celebrated on Saturday October 24, 2009, with tours and a banquet.

If you attended MCC immediately after graduating from MHS, you will remember that we had only one building and a second one was under construction in 1971.  MCC has grown during the last 38 years!  When I taught there, MCC had three buildings.  When we moved back to Muscatine, MCC had opened its own apartment building between the college and Weed Park.

On October 24th, there will be tours unveiling the three newest buildings, including the site of the former Muscatine Community School District building on Park Avenue which will now house off-campus classes for colleges & universities offering four-year degree programs here in Muscatine.  A few weeks ago, I was asked to give a poetry reading for one of the literature classes and realized that I had never been in the building where it was held.

MCC's 50th anniversary events in 1979 were well worth attending and I look forward to this fall's celebration.
