Obituary for Dan Colschen

Dan W. Colschen, 62, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his home in Muscatine. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Following the celebration the family will be gathering at Hubbles for a time of remembrance. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To honor Dan, attendees are encouraged to wear Iowa Hawkeye apparel. Dan William Colschen was born on May 15, 1951 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of James and Betty Mae (Frye) Colschen. On November 2, 1985 he was united in marriage to Michalle Oveson in Beaumont, Texas. He was previously married to Cindy Owens. Dan served in the United States Army in the bomb disposal squad and as military police. He worked for several years as a policeman in Beaumont, Texas, Muscatine Toyota for 15yrs prior to working for Menards. Dan enjoyed listening to music, being outdoors, and was an avid Hawkeye basketball and football fan.

Dan will be deeply missed by his children, Jeremy Colschen and wife, Mary of Muscatine, James Colschen of Muscatine, Danielle Colschen and significant other, Joseph of North Liberty; grandchildren, Zachary, Corey, Tierney, and Calista Colschen; and one brother, Ted Colschen and wife, Cathy of Albia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Michalle; two sisters, Sandy Harper and Cindy Rickey; and his pet yorkie, Gabe.
