WILTON, Iowa ? Michael W. Freese, 51, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home in Wilton after an extended illness due to Melanoma Cancer.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.  The Rev. Paul Ostrem of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice Program or the Zion Lutheran Church.  Personal condolences may be sent to hy-vee-gal@hotmail.com.

Michael was born on June 5, 1951, in Muscatine, the son of Carl H. ?Snow? and Dorothy M. Nicklas Freese.  He married Nealene A. Rigdon Maurer on April 4, 2003, in Muscatine.

He worked as a Sales Representative for Nabisco in Iowa City since 1985.

Prior to moving to Wilton, he had resided in North Liberty since 1994. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Muscatine High School.  He attended Muscatine Community College attaining is Associative of Arts Degree and then attended the University of Northern Iowa obtaining his Batchelor?s Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies.

Mike was an avid golfer and liked the Hawkeye?s, Yankee?s and the Bear?s.

He is survived by his wife Nealene Freese of Wilton; his father and step-mother, Carl and Marion Freese, of Muscatine; two step-daughters, Breanna and Brittany Maurer both of Wilton; one brother, David Freese of Cresco; two step-sisters, Judith Ann Dittman of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Betty Crinklaw of Grand Junction, Colorado; and his best friends, Jim Compton of Cedar Rapids and Ann Morris of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Freese in 1971.
