Celebration of life: 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11,  American Legion, 110 S. Houser St.

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Mary K. Ferreira, 57, Muscatine, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at her home, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease.

As per her request, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of Louie Ferreira.

Mrs. Ferreira was born Oct. 19, 1951, in Muscatine, the daughter of Bernard and Valeria Schaapveld Wieskamp.  She married Luis “Louie” Ferreira March 15, 2002, in Muscatine.

She was a graduate from Hayes Catholic High School. 

She was a homemaker and sold Avon for many years.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and she enjoyed playing cards and bingo.  She also loved her dogs, Bud and Heidi.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Louie Ferreira of Muscatine; a son, Scott Kruse and wife, Kristin, of Muscatine; two daughters, Tamara Kruse of Muscatine, and Tonia Brossart and husband, Jody, of Muscatine; two step-sons, Michael Ferreira of Muscatine and Stephen Ferreira of Des Moines; two step-daughters, Sabrina Smith of Muscatine, and Kathy Sanchez of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, David Wieskamp and wife, Debra, of Willow, Alaska, Mike Wieskamp and wife, Deanna, of California, Greg Wieskamp and wife, Judy, of Aledo, Ill., Tom Wieskamp of Florida, and Kevin Wieskamp and wife, Anne, of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Joan Lackey and husband, Jerry, of Muscatine, and Elizabeth Wieskamp of Muscatine; a sister-in-law, Joyce Wieskamp of Muscatine; a special friend, Kathy Hingst and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Robert Wieskamp; and a nephew, Rex Lackey.
